The Chillicothe Lady Hornets girls golf team braved weather delays and tough competition at the Smith-Cotton Classic in Sedalia on Monday, with two golfers finishing among the top medalists in the Class 1–3 division.
Gracelynn Barnett led the way with a round of 92, good for 4th place overall. Teammate Harper Horsman followed close behind, firing a 97 to earn 7th place.
Also competing for Chillicothe were Libbie Bonderer and Danika Harkins, who helped round out the Hornets’ lineup.
The tournament began at 10 a.m. and was interrupted by rain and lightning delays in the afternoon, forcing teams to cart in around 3:30 p.m. before resuming play at 4:15 to finish the remaining holes.
Despite the interruptions, the Hornets handled the conditions well and brought home two individual top-10 finishes in a competitive field.
