The good news of Thursday night at the Danner Park tennis courts — the Chillicothe girls’ tennis team won 9-0 to move the team to 4-2 on the season. The bad news — the heat and humidity was once again brutal after three straight weeks of playing in similar conditions. Despite those tough conditions, the lady hornet netters played sharp, clean, thoughtful tennis on every court to quickly beat the Benton Lady Cardinals. Coach Chambers was glad that all her players continued to hit strong groundstrokes and volleys without matching the softer hitting of their opponents. The past month of matches is starting to pay off in conference and district matchups as the lady hornets are hitting better and better every night, no matter who they face. The team moves to 2-1 in the MEC overall. Results were as follows:
