Hornet Cross Country Brings Home Medals and Team Win from Warrensburg

The Chillicothe Cross Country program turned in another strong showing Thursday evening at the Warrensburg Invitational, bringing home 10 medals, an individual champion, a runner-up, a bronze medalist, a team victory, and several new personal records on a warm and challenging course.

In the Varsity Boys race (108 runners), Luke Thompson led the way with a runner-up finish in a time of 16:51, helping the Hornets place 6th out of 16 full teams.

In Varsity Girls competition (75 runners), Sophie Hurtgen earned a medal with a 24th-place finish in 23:17.

The JV Boys team finished 2nd out of 6 teams, led by Alexander England (6th), Zain Wahid (9th), and Mikah Yeomans (11th)—all medalists.

The Middle School Girls continued their dominant season, earning their fifth consecutive team victory out of 11 full teams. Jaycee Dickson claimed 1st place overall, followed by Maycee Caselman (3rd), Sydnee Johansen (9th), and AmRee Nielson (13th)—all finishing in the top 15.

In the Middle School Boys division (152 runners), Elijah Caselman brought home a medal with a 6th-place finish, helping his team to 8th out of 14 full teams.

It was a great day of racing and progress for the Hornets despite the heat. The high school teams will return to competition Tuesday at the MoWest course for the MEC Championships.
