Hornets Make Game Winning Play Against Centralia

The Chillicothe Hornets basketball team hosted Centralia Friday night. Coach Tim Cool’s team entered the game 4-2 and were looking for their 4th straight win.

 

The Hornets raced out to a 7-0 start but the Panthers answered back and were ahead 21–14 . Chillicothe closed the deficit and it was a one score game at halftime. The Hornets and the Panthers went back and forth in the 2nd half but Centralia had the ball with 30 seconds remaining and the score tied 45-45. Chillicothe played aggressive defensively, not allowing Centralia the opportunity to hold for the final shot. Cooper Robinson stole the ball and took it the other way for a fast break bucket inside the final 10 seconds. Centralia had the opportunity for a game winning 3 pointers but the attempt was blocked by Jaishon White.

 

Chillicothe’s 47-45 victory was anchored by White and Sol’jier Allen who each finished with 17 points. Allen delivered on two big 4th quarter three’s which put Chillicothe ahead at the time.

 

It was the Hornets 2nd two point win of the season and Chillicothe is now 5-2 this season. They will play St. Joe Central Saturday at the Civic Center in St. Joseph.
