The Chillicothe Hornets boys basketball team played Cameron in the consolation championship at the LeBlond Holiday Tournament on Tuesday.
Early on Cameron’s zone defense gave Chillicothe fits, as the Hornets held just a 13-9 edge entering the 2nd quarter. Chillicothe’s outside shooting caught fire in the 2nd quarter, headlined by Turner Jackson who hit six outside field goals in the game and tallied a game high 20 points. The perimeter game opened up the inside and the Dragons had no answer for Chillicothe who stormed out to a 41-19 lead at the break.
In the 2nd half, Cameron slowly clawed their way back, but did not cut the deficit to single digits until the final seconds and Chillicothe cruised to a 53-44 victory.
The Hornets earned the consolation crown at LeBlond to improve to 6-5 on the season. Chillicothe will play their first Midland Empire Conference game at Bishop LeBlond next Thursday.
