The Chillicothe Hornets boys soccer team was at Cameron on Thursday night taking on the Dragons. The game started with both defenses winning out early, as neither offense was able to create any clear chances. There were only two shots on goal in the first half, both taken by Chillicothe. The Hornets finally unlocked the Dragons defense when Landen Longo carried the ball through the midfield and found Josh Ojeaga who played Mason Walter past the defense on a perfectly timed run. Walter used his left foot to calmly slot the ball into the far post putting Chillicothe ahead 1-0 with 4:40 left in the first half.
Chillicothe held the goal advantage entering the 2nd half when the Dragons offense came alive. Cameron began to take chances and earned a penalty kick midway through the half when Brayden Henry was fouled in the box. Landyn Smith stepped up to take the kick for Cameron but was denied by the Hornets goalkeeper Jesse Hughes with an incredible kick save to keep Cameron off the board. The Dragons had four shots on goal but each was prevented by Hughes to preserve the clean sheet as Chillicothe held on for the 1-0 win. The victory improves Chillicothe to 6-4 on the season.
