The Chillicothe Hornets and Lady Hornets brought a strong contingent to compete in the Class 3 Track and Field State Finals in Jefferson City. Four Lady Hornets had qualified from sectionals, plus boys individual athletes in seven different events, along with three boys relay teams.
Chillicothe scored points on both the boys and girls side with several podium finishes in the top 8. The Lady Hornets had Tori Stoner place 4th in javelin with a throw of 37.4 meters. Lydia Bonderer ran 7th in the 800 clocking a time of 2:25. The Lady Hornets finished 36th in Class 3 as a team.
For the boys, Elijah Hall came in 4th in the long jump with a leap of 6.65m. Luke Thompson was 4th in the 800, running a 1:56. Cain Evans placed 5th in the 3200, with a time of 9:41. The Hornets 4×100 relay team also landed on the podium in 4th, completing the lap in just 43.23 seconds. The boys team was 13th amongst the entire Missouri Class 3 schools.
