Hornets Unable to Keep Up with Maryville

The Chillicothe Hornets hosted Maryville on Senior Night with both teams at 4-1 in the MEC, fighting for 2nd place in the conference.

Maryville executed well to open the game, leading 17-7 at the end of the first quarter. Chillicothe kept things close in the 2nd quarter, as Maryville managed just nine points, but still led 26-15 at half.

In the 3rd quarter, Chillicothe used a run to trim the Maryville lead to just six points, but the Hornets were unable to come any closer. Maryville’s inside outside duo of Jackson Dredge and Miles Poynter combined for 35 points, and the Spoofhounds held Jaishon White to a season low 9 points. Maryville pulled away late for a 50-31 victory.

Chillicothe finishes the regular season 16-9, and 4-2 in the MEC for a top three spot in conference. The Hornets will begin district play on Tuesday.
