Lady Hornets Battle Weather, Take Triangular at Green Hills

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets girls golf team braved storms and scoring adjustments Thursday to earn the win in a triangular against Hamilton, Princeton, and Meadville at Green Hills Golf Course.

Heavy rain and lightning forced most players off the course with about four holes to play. Coaches agreed to assign double bogeys on unplayed holes so the meet could be completed.

Despite dealing with a back injury that limited her to just three holes, Gracelynn Barnett posted an adjusted score of 81. Harper Horsman led Chillicothe with a 48, followed by Emmie Brobst at 54, Libbie Bonderer with a 57, and Piper Guthrie at 62. That gave the Hornets a team score of 221, good enough to top Princeton (241) and Meadville (229).

The victory showed Chillicothe’s resilience in challenging conditions, both on the course and with the weather, as they held off their opposition to claim the triangular win.
