Lady Hornets Late Surge Lifts Chillicothe For Conference Win

The Lady Hornets took on the Lady Dragons of Cameron in a road MEC matchup on Monday. The Lady Hornets came in with a 2-6 record and looking for their first road victory of the season.

Chillicothe scored first on a shot from Charlie Hibner off an assist from Sophie Hurtgen in the first half. The lead would double on a goal from Hurtgen on a wonderful through ball from Hayden Hansen to make it 2-0. The Lady Dragons pulled one back with 30 seconds left in the half to make it 2-1 at halftime.

In the second half Chillicothe continued to control the action but a well timed ball by Cameron knotted the score 2-2. A well placed shot between the post and keeper gave the Lady Hornets the lead 3-2.  Sophie Hurtgen would proceed to put the game away with a 45 yard breakaway goal for a final score of 4-2.

In the JV match the Lady Hornets tied the Lady Dragons 0-0.
