Lady Hornets Open District Play with Dominant Win Over Richmond

The top-seeded Chillicothe Lady Hornets opened Class 3 District 8 play in commanding fashion Wednesday night, defeating the No. 8 seed Richmond 15-0 in three innings at Excelsior Springs.

Landry Marsh was outstanding in the circle, throwing a perfect game over three innings. She struck out eight of the nine batters she faced, allowing no hits, walks, or baserunners in a flawless performance.

At the plate, the Lady Hornets were equally dominant, recording 10 hits and scoring in every inning. Ashlynn Daugherty led the offense with three hits—including a triple—and drove in two runs. Hayden Hansen added two doubles and an RBI, while Kenzie Fleener recorded a double and two RBIs. Landry Marsh, Ellie Acree, and Jordan Foster each contributed key hits as Chillicothe scored ten runs in the first and five in the second inning to end the game early by run rule.

With the win, the Lady Hornets advance to the Class 3 District 8 semifinals, where they will face No. 4 seed Benton on Saturday at Excelsior Springs.
