Lady Hornets Open MEC Play With Resounding Victory

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets traveled to St. Joseph Friday night for their first MEC game of the season against Bishop Leblond. Chillicothe entered the contest 8-2 while Leblond was 5-8.


The Lady Hornets started sensationally, with a 19-0 run to open the game. Leblond answered with the next 8 to close out the first quarter at 19-8.

 

Chillicothe’s defense was dominant the rest of the way, allowing just 11 points in the final 3 quarters, cruising to a 49-19 conference win. Lyla Beetsma led the charge offensively with 15 points and Liz Oliver added 14.

 

Chillicothe improves to 9-2 and 1-0 in the Midland Empire Conference. The Lady Hornets will play next in the California tournament on Monday at California HS against Eldon with tipoff at 7pm. You can listen to the game here on your Home of the Hornets KCHI.
