Lady Hornets Tennis Compete at MEC Tourney

Under crisp but bright conditions on Wednesday morning, the CHS girls tennis team played in the annual MEC tournament as individual entries in doubles or singles to determine conference champions. Each lady hornet found at least one win on the day, but none of them came away with a medal. The day was a double-elimination tournament. Each bracket had 16 entries and the top five finishers in doubles and in singles medaled. Scores were as follows:

 

 

Singles Bracket:

Micah Crowe beat Steele of Savannah 8-2, lost to Dunn of St. Pius 1-6, 2-6, and lost to Quinlin of Maryville 2-8.

Keonnia Morgan lost to Ward of St. Pius 1-8, beat Miller of Cameron 8-2, beat Elston of Maryville 8-5, and lost to Mallen of Savannah 6-8.

 

 

Doubles Bracket:

Bianca Clark & Keeley Shira beat O’Callahan & Davis of Lafayette 8-0, lost to Little & Hennegin of Maryville 1-6, 6-4, tiebreak 7-10, and lost to Alexander & Cope of Savannah 2-8.

Jasmine McLean and Summer Gatson beat Martinez & Smith of Benton 8-4, lost to Fischer & Moore of Savannah 0-6, 1-6, beat Spicer & Burton of Cameron 8-3, and lost to Deering & Kain of Maryville 4-8.
