Lady Hornets Volleyball Sweeps St. Joseph Christian on Senior Night


The Chillicothe Lady Hornets volleyball team capped off Senior Night with a strong performance, defeating St. Joseph Christian in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-16).

The night was also a celebration of six outstanding seniors — Ava Leamer, Lyla Beetsma, Emerson Staton, Carman Woodworth, Sadie Bonderer, and Iya Almojera — who have been instrumental in setting a new standard for CHS volleyball through their leadership, dedication, and love for the program.

On the court, the Hornets were led by Lyla Beetsma with 17 kills and 17 digs, while Ava Leamer added 13 kills and 14 digs. Emerson Staton tallied 12 kills, 12 digs, and 2 service aces. Carman Woodworth directed the offense with 33 assists and contributed steady play throughout the match. Clara Fisher also served 2 aces.

The C Team earned a 2-0 win (25-19, 25-15), while the Junior Varsity team battled hard before falling 1-2 (22-25, 25-14, 23-25).

With the victory, the Lady Hornets improved to 26-4 on the season which has surpassed the most wins ever in a season for Chillicothe volleyball. The Lady Hornets close out the year with two road conference games.
