The Chillicothe Hornets boys soccer team fell to Class 3 Marshall 5-0 Thursday night at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium.
Marshall controlled much of the opening half with strong ball movement and consistent pressure on the Chillicothe defense. The Owls took a 1-0 lead about 15 minutes into the match on a penalty kick and added two more goals before halftime to take a 3-0 advantage into the break.
Chillicothe came out with more pressure in the second half and created opportunities against the Marshall back line. Although the Hornets were unable to find the back of the net, their increased pressure changed the flow of the match. Marshall eventually added two more goals to finish with the 5-0 victory.
In the junior varsity match, Marshall earned a 2-1 win. Gunner Brobst scored Chillicothe’s lone goal.
The Hornets fall to 2-1 overall and remain 1-0 in MEC play. Chillicothe will return to action Saturday, Sept. 12, on the road against Mexico.
