Mudcats Lose To The Clarinda A’s On Monday; Drop Their Sixth Game In A Row

The Chillicothe Mudcats lose once more on Monday evening to the Clarinda A’s at Municipal Stadium in Clarinda, Iowa.

The Mudcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first after a pair of RBI singles from Jevon Raboy and Slater Hooke scoring Taydem Hashimoto and Raboy, respectively.

However, it didn’t take long for Clarinda to respond back, they got both runs back in the bottom of the first. John Petrie hit a sacrifice fly to score Sean Bazmore, and then later in the inning Theo Anderson singled in Cooper Knight to make it 2-2 after one inning.

The A’s took the lead in the bottom of the second inning, Andy Gill scored on a Cooper Knight sacrifice fly, and the A’s led 3-2 after two innings.

After a host of walks and hit-by-pitches issued by Mudcat pitching in the third, Clarinda was able to score three runs in the frame. 6-2 in favor of the A’s after three innings of action.

The Mudcats got a run back in the fourth, Jackson Neilitz smacked an RBI single scoring Ryder McClain. 6-3 Clarinda at that point. But, the A’s got two more in bottom half of the inning, John Petrie doubled in a pair, and extended the Clarinda lead to 8-3 after four innings.

After an inning and a half of scoreless baseball, the A’s tacked on a run in the sixth. Cole Baumgart singled in Cooper Knight to make it 9-3 Clarinda. That score stayed true until the bottom of the eighth when Parker McNeal hit a sacrifice fly to score Sean Bazmore. The third sac fly of the night for the Clarinda A’s, and the score was 10-3 after eight.

The Mudcats did get a run in the ninth from a Jordi Ventura double that scored Jackson Neilitz, but that was all Chillicothe could push across in the ball game.

The Mudcats lost their sixth straight game on Monday evening by a final score of 10-4, and fall to 1-6 on the young season.

Chillicothe is off on Tuesday, and will be back at home on Wednesday evening for a date with the Nevada Griffons. First pitch from Shaffer Park is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
