Dortha Lou (McQueen) Yeomans-Maberry

Dortha Lou (McQueen) Yeomans-Maberry, 91, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026 at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, Missouri. She was born on January 11, 1935 in Lock Springs, Missouri, to Roy and Orpha (Richardson) McQueen. Following her father’s death, she and her mother relocated to Chillicothe, Missouri.

After her graduation from Chillicothe High School in 1952, she worked in banking in Chillicothe as well as in Washington, D.C. while her husband was stationed at the Pentagon. She later
served as the school secretary at Chillicothe Junior High School and as an administrative assistant for Midwest Concrete and Irvinbilt Companies. After moving to Liberty, she worked
several years at Bette’s Hallmark where she made many dear friends. She married John Edward Yeomans on October, 26, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1986. In 1998, she married Bob Maberry, who passed away in 2024.

She made Chillicothe her home for many years and later moved to Liberty, Missouri to be near her daughters and their families. She was a devout Methodist and was a member of United
Methodist churches in both Chillicothe and Liberty. For many years, her membership in Beta Sigma Phi provided fun gatherings and friendship both in Chillicothe and later in Liberty.
Throughout the years, she always supported her daughters’ activities including serving as a Sunday School teacher and a Girl Scout leader. She also welcomed many teenagers for tacos,
pizza, and soft drinks. Dottie will be remembered as a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed moments spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and holiday celebrations with the Yeomans-Hayen Family. Through the years, she attended many ballgames, swim meets, band festivals, birthday parties, baptisms and confirmations. She always focused on providing special outings for her grands. Among her favorites was a visit to Shatto Dairy where her great grandchildren were able to actually pet a baby calf and have lots of chocolate milk. She never knew a stranger and warmly welcomed friends into her home with offers of goodies, drinks and great conversation.
Although Dottie endured the deaths of her brother who died during World War II, her father from cancer, and her first husband at a young age, she maintained a positive outlook on life.
She was always open to a new experience and loved traveling and learning about new places. Her enthusiasm for life is the greatest blessing she has passed on to her family. She will be
greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Schulte (Steven) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Cheryl Bennett (Jeffrey) of Liberty, Missouri. She also leaves behind grandchildren Jennifer Salzman (Jake), John Schulte (Jennifer), Katie Lemberger (Paul), and Jessica Temple (Greg) as well as great grandchildren Hayden Lemberger (Lauren), Austin and Parker Salzman, Ella, Anderson and Caroline Schulte, and Owen and Bert Temple. She also is survived by loving members of the Hayen family including sister-in-law Joyce Hayen, nieces Debbie Lombardo and Lisa Welker and nephew Bill Hayen.
The family would like to extend our greatest thanks to Our Lady of Mercy Country Home for the care, comfort and kindness that they provided to her the last few years.

Graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The register book will be available to sign at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Country Home of Liberty, Missouri and/or Liberty United Methodist Church of Liberty, Missouri and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
