Lady Hornets Shut Out South Harrison

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets picked up a big 2-0 victory over fourth-ranked South Harrison in Class 2 on Tuesday, earning a shutout against one of the top teams in the area.

Chillicothe scored once in the third inning, added another run in the fourth, and held South Harrison to just one hit in the complete-game victory.

Landry Marsh was outstanding in the circle, throwing all seven innings and allowing just one hit while striking out 12 batters. She did not issue a walk and faced 22 batters.

The Hornets finished with seven hits. Jordan Foster led the Chillicothe offense with a 2-for-3 performance. Abbie Ireland also went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Maddie Robinson was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Hope Donoho went 1-for-2 and scored a run, and Macie Rodenberg added a hit.

Chillicothe’s two runs came in the third and fourth innings, with the Hornets taking advantage of timely hitting to build the lead before Marsh and the defense finished the job.

The Lady Hornets performance drew high praise from Coach Lee Rucker following the game.

“Great win over the 4th ranked team in Class 2. They have a really good team that is well coached. I thought our girls played an outstanding game.”

The victory gives Chillicothe another significant win late in the season to improve their record to 26-2, with the Lady Hornets continuing to put together strong performances on both sides of the ball.
