Southwest School Preschool (Pre-K) and Kindergarten Screening

Southwest R-I School, Ludlow, has scheduled their annual preschool (Pre-K) and kindergarten screening for Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  On these dates, children who are eligible for Preschool (Pre-K) by being four years of age before August 1, 2025, or eligible for Kindergarten by being five years of age before August 1, 2025, will be screened to assess their growth and development.  Children will be given the DIAL-4 Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning test.  They will also have their vision and hearing checked.  Families in the Southwest school district who have 4-year old children and are interested in their children attending preschool (Pre-K) must have their children take part in this screening process.  Screening results are part of the criteria to determine placement in the Southwest Blended Preschool (Pre-K) morning session.

All parents should bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization records and verification of residency in order to fill out forms.  If parents have already filled out this kind of information, there will be no need to bring this information to the screening.  Following the screening, conferences with the parents will be held to discuss the results.

If your child is currently enrolled in Preschool or Kindergarten at Southwest, there is no need to schedule an appointment.
