Fireworks for Chillicothe’s Independence Day Celebration on July 5th will have a new location this year. City officials announced the fireworks display for 2026 will be launched from the south end of Green Hills Golf Course, near the Litton Lake Dam.
The announcement states the new launch location was selected to prioritize safety, improve the overall viewing experience, and make the display visible to more residences and neighborhoods throughout Chillicothe.
The change in location is the result of community input, site research, and thoughtful discussions. The location was chosen because it provides a safer, more family-friendly setting while expanding visibility across the community.
Officials say the new location is expected to allow more residents to enjoy the fireworks closer to home, with many families able to view the display from their own neighborhoods or nearby public viewing areas such as Simpson and Danner Parks.
For safety, Green Hills Golf Course will be closed during the fireworks display. Access to the course and parking lot will be limited to authorized personnel, the fireworks crew, and emergency responders.
