Jan Clifton VanDeventer, 77, of Chillicothe MO, joined his heavenly family on September 1, 2024. He passed peacefully with Mary Lou, his sweetheart, wife of 59 years, best friend, at his bedside.
Jan’s other survivors are daughter and son-in-law Janet and Jon Fraser; grandchildren Andrew (Mercedes) Fraser, Matthew Fraser, Michelle Fraser, Isaac Brown. He is preceded in death by daughter, Sheila Renea VanDeventer Brown, parents George Evan and Vella May VanDeventer, and both siblings, George Elliot VanDeventer and Rosalie VanDeventer.
Jan loved God above everything, adored his wife and family, and treasured his friends. Music was his passion and ministry. Jan’s wish is for a concert in lieu of a traditional funeral. Please join his family for a musical celebration of life at 3:00 pm Saturday, September 7, 2024 directly followed by fellowship at Historical Bethel AME Church, 1308 McNally St, Chillicothe, MO, across from Grand River Historical Museum.
Memorials may be made to Chilli Arts Opry/Chillicothe Area Arts Council (CAAC) and left at the celebration or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home at 3141 Washington St, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
Private, family graveside service will be held at a future date at Anderson Smith Cemetery, Chillicothe MO.
