A new weather observation digital reporting system has been installed at the Chillicothe Municipal Airport. Airport Director Toby Calivere says it is called an AWOS system.
Automated Weather Observation Systems that provide pilots and others up dated weather information.
Calivere says having this information helps local pilots and those planning to travel in the area the information needed to make travel decisions and flight plans.
The new AWOS digital reporting system was installed at no cost to the city. The city does pay a monthly fee of $60.
He says an FAA-mandated upgrade of the AWOS system was expected in the future. This puts Chillicothe ahead of that mandate.
