Chillicothe Airport Projects Moving Forward

Two projects for the Chillicothe Airport are moving forward, but are in the early stages.  Chillicothe City Administrator Roze Frampton says the first project is the AWOS System.  That stands for Automated Weather Observing System.  This provides realtime weather data at the airport.  Frampton says the system currently installed at the airport is outdated.

Working to determine the best location for the new system.

Frampton says the City is generally responsible for 10% of the cost of the new system, but the city is working on a new grant that could cut that to 5%.

The second project is to control the number of deer and other wildlife on the airport.

Doing a survey of the number and type of animals on the airport grounds.

They are also working with the Missouri Department of Conservation to determine what measures could be taken.
