Chillicothe R-II Budget Update

A budget update was presented to the Chillicothe R-II School Board at this week’s meeting.  Superintendent Dr Dan Wiebers says the state funding for the district is likely to see some changes for the first time in many years.  Wiebers says the State Adequacy Target could increase.

Has been set by the legislature at $6,760, which is up from $6,375.

Other state actions that could affect the local budget include:

  • $120 million increase to the Foundation Formula
  • $16 Million increase for the Transportation categorical, which remains fully funded
  • Full funding for the baseline teacher salary of $40,000 – without a local match (100% state funded) – This has increased from $38,000 in the current year. This grant will increase salaries for several Chillicothe R-II employee categories
  • $119 million increase to Prop C funding

A special meeting to set the 2024/25 budget will be held June 27th.
