House Fire And Grass Fire Handled By Chillicothe Firefighters

Chillicothe firefighters responded to two fires Friday.

Just before 4:00 pm, they were called to 1103 Calhoun for a structure fire.  They arrived to find heavy smoke in the area and smoke and fire on the outside of the home and on the front porch.  The fire was put out and the crew used thermal imaging cameras to check for hot spots in the walls. The owner reported throwing a cigarette out a window, which landed in bushes and dried leaves.  She had left and when she returned found the fire.  The fire crew was on the scene for just over an hour.

Chillicothe Firefighters responded to a grass fire at 10101 Litton Road.  The call came in at 11:01 am and the crew arrived in eight minutes to find about a half-acre of grass burning along with a wood pile.  300 gallons of water was used to put out the fire.  They were on the scene for about 25 minutes.
