Patrol Releases Report For Fatal Crash Near Hamilton

A pick-up driver died, and her passenger had serious injuries in a Semi-vs-pick-up crash on US 36  near Hamilton on Wednesday.  The Missouri Highway Patrol released the report for the crash that occurred at about 9:30 am on US 36 at Route B.  According to the report, the semi, driven by a 57-year-old Newton, Kansas man, was eastbound on US 36, and the pick-up was on the eastbound shoulder and was pulling back into the traffic lane.  The semi attempted to avoid the collision, but struck the rear of the pick-up, causing it to go off the south side of the road and overturn.

The driver of the pick-up, an 85-year-old Hamilton woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.  She had not been wearing a safety belt.  Her passenger, a 52-year-old woman from Hamilton, was wearing a safety belt and was flown to Truman Medical Center with serious injuries.  The driver of the semi was not injured.
