Weather Service Issues Extreme Heat Warning

An extreme heat warning is issued through Friday evening for northwest Missouri and areas as far south as Sedalia, Clinton. and Butler.

The National Weather Service issued the Extreme Heat Warning due to the forecast of temperatures in the 90’s through the period and Heat Index values expected up to 105 degrees due to the high relative humidity through the period.

The Weather Service says the hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Recommendations include:
• Drink plenty of fluids,
• Stay in an air-conditioned room,
• Stay out of the sun,
• Check up on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly and those with medical conditions.

If you must be outside, try to schedule your work early in the day and drink plenty of water often.
