The Chillicothe Hornet boys soccer team battled through a back-and-forth contest Thursday night, earning a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over Cameron.
After a slow start, Chillicothe trailed 2-1 at halftime. The Hornets’ first goal came from freshman Mason Walter, who struck from just outside the box and placed the ball perfectly into the top right corner of the net.
In the second half, the Hornets regrouped, emphasizing ball control and quicker passing. The adjustments paid off as Isaac Bailey and Josh Ojeaga each scored to give Chillicothe a 3-2 lead. Cameron answered late with a low shot into the corner to tie the match at 3-3 and send it into extra time.
In the second overtime period, Landon Lango delivered the game-winner—a long strike from 40 yards out that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the net, sealing the 4-3 victory for Chillicothe.
The Hornets showed strong resilience and teamwork throughout the match, closing out the week with an exciting win.
