The Chillicothe Hornets boys soccer team played their most complete game of the season thus far on the road Tuesday night at Lafayette. Chillicothe netted five goals in the game, a season high, and shutout their opposition for just the 2nd time this year.
In the first half, Mason Walter provided a perfect pass to Josh Ojeaga to set up the opening goal. Minutes later a Walter cross on a free kick was headed in by Isaac Bailey and the Hornets led 2-0 at half.
In the 2nd half each of those Hornets added to their stat sheet. Bailey scored his 2nd goal off another header, Ojeaga matched Bailey with his 2nd goal while Walters provided yet another assist. Then Coy Jones put the finishing touches on the scoring to make it 5-0.
Defensively Chillicothe was excellent, the back four of Dustin Citron, Ryan Schuler, Jace Collins and Brennan Fitzpatrick held Lafayette to just four shots on goal and zero corner kicks. The play between the pipes was excellent as well, with the Hornets goalkeeper making a few fantastic 2nd half saves. For the game Chillicothe finished with 12 shots on goal and 7 corner kicks.
