For most people, December is the happiest time of the year with the Christmas holiday festivities. However, Katie Pemberton, an extension specialist with the University of Missouri says it can be a difficult time for some people

She says risk factors include, but not limited to, several things.

She says there are many other causes, but also just as many buffers from thoughts of suicide. Pemberton says the National Suicide Prevention Hotline number is 1-800-273-8255. The call is free and confidential.
