The Chillicothe Hornets opened the 2019 Pony Express tournament with a 7-3 loss to Maryville. Chillicothe had more hits but Maryville turned theirs into more runs.
The Spoofhounds scored four in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Chillicothe had doubles from Westley Brandsgaard and Bradley Riley, two singles for Mason Baxter, Kam Ward and Brock Ward and one single from Jaden Winder.
Brock Ward also had three RBI in the game.
On the Mound, Baxter and Dawson Wheeler combined for the loss, allowing 7 runs, only one earned, off five hits with five strike outs and three walks. The Hornets team had four errors in the game.
