Chillicothe’s Baseball team had more hits but Lafayette turned theirs into runs in 2-1 Lafayette win in St Joseph.
Lafayette scored twice in the 3rd inning off an error, ground out, fielders choice, strike out, walk and then an error on a fly ball that scored two for the Irish.
Chillicothe countered in the fifth inning on a Matt Smith single, an error, a pop out, a Jaden Winder single and a fielder’s choice that scored one.
On the mound for Chillicothe Jaden Winder went six innings and took the loss, allowing 2 unearned runs off 2 hits with 8 strike outs and 4 walks.
At the plate for the Hornets Jaden Winder had two singles, Mason Baxter, Brock Ward, Matt Smith and Tucker Wagers had one single each and Westley Brandsgaard had an RBI.
The Lafayette Junior Varsity won 8-3 over Chillicothe with two in the first and three in the third and fourth.
Tucker Burtch and Myles Cobb were on the mound for Chillicothe JV, allowing 8 runs on 6 hits with three walks and three strike outs.
At the plate for the Hornets: Hunter Rader had a double and two RBI, Landon Swift, Austin Mace and Xander Lamb had one single each.
