Maryville used a strong first quarter to pull away from Chillicothe in Midland Empire Football Conference competition. The Spoofhounds led 26-0 after the first quarter in route to a 47-0 win over the Hornets at NWMSU.
Maryville Sophomore Quarterback Ben Walker threw three touchdowns to three different receivers of 14, 33 and 25 yards. Senior Eli Dowis rushing for three touchdowns of 14, 11 and 4 yards and Tyler Houchin had a 5 yard touchdown.
Maryville scored on their first four possessions and benefited from a short playing field in the first half. Chillicothe had a couple of fumble turnovers and a couple of short punts that helped the Maryville cause.
The Hornets were able to move the football at times, including one drive that started at their own 20 yard line and stalled at the Maryville 31 yard line.
Chillicothe falls to 0-3 and Maryville improves to 2-1. Chillicothe hosts Cameron for Homecoming this Friday.
