Big Plays Hurt Hornets In Loss
The big play was the problem in Chillicothe’s football loss Friday night. Savannah beat Chillicothe 57-13 that included touchdowns of 80 yards, 84 yards, 79 yards and 40 yards.
Savannah scored on a 1 yard run and then an 80 yard quarterback keeper by Chase Spoonemore. The Savages led 16-0 after the first quarter.
An 11 yard run on a drive set up by a kick off return fumble made it 26-0. Chillicothe bounced back with a Cade Koehly 35 yard run. The Hornets joy would be short lived.
Savannah returned the kick off 84 yards for a touchdown.
Late in the first half, Spoonmore had a 79 yard touchdown. he would end with 9 carries for 235 yards rushing.
Savannah scored once in the third quarter and led 44-6 after three quarters. Chillicothe benefited from an Isaac Washburn fumble recovery on the 30 yard line. Winder ended the short drive with a 5 yard run.
Savannah scored on a Spoonmore 1 yard run and a 40 yard fumble return late in the game.
Chillicothe rushed for 199 yards and passed for 43. They lost two fumbles and threw one interception but recovered one fumble and had a Kam Ward interception.
Savannah’s offense had 307 yards rushing and 14 yards passing.
