Lady Hornets Softball Team Honored

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets 2018 Softball team was honored at their annual banquet. The Lady Hornets finished as District runners-up, tied for Conference runners-up and finished with an 11-9 record.  The team set the school record for team batting average with a .372, beating the old record from 2016 by 15 points.
The team will lose five seniors, the first group to play all four years for Head Coach Mike Jones and finished with winning records all four years.

The team will lose five seniors to Graduation.
Team award winners were:
Grass Stain Award (biggest sacrifice for the team) – Kennedy Corzette
Most Improved – Kiley Kirkpatrick
Most Valuable Defensive Player – Jordan Hibner
Most Valuable Offensive Player – Abby Jones
Coaches Award was shared by Libby Adkins and McKayla Shady.
Abby Jones led the team in several offensive categories including hits, singles, triples runs, RBIs and batting average at .557. She tied for the lead with Mika Hibner in doubles and home runs. Jones also had seven stolen bases with Kennedy Corzette one behind her.
Mollie Ellis led the team in pitching with seven wins while Halle Rucker led in strike outs with 38.
In Fielding, Jones again led the team with 56 put outs and 21 assists.

In post season awards not already announced:
Libby Atkins was first team district and second team all region outfielder
Kennedy Corzette was first team outfielder
Abby Jones was first team district and first team region infielder
Jordan Hibner was first team district infielder
Mika Hibner was second team district catcher
Kiley Kirkpatrick was second team all district and Lexie Walker was honorable mention all district.
