CHS Softball Suffers Missed Opportunities

A couple of tough breaks led to the Lady Hornets Softball team to suffer a 7 to 2 loss at home.
The East Buchanan Girls Softball team jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first and scored three more in the second off a three-run home run with two outs.
Chillicothe fought back with one run in the third and a Brooke Horton shot over center field in the fourth to close the game to 6-2.
The Lady Hornets had another chance late in the fourth inning when they loaded the bases with two outs, but popped up in foul territory which was caught by the East Buchanan catcher to end the inning.
The final East Buchanan run was in the seventh inning.
For Chillicothe, Sophia Luetticke had three singles, Horton had a home run, and singles from Kinlei Boley, Mollie Ellis and Dawsyn Lightner.
Halle Rucker had the start for Chillicothe and Kinlei Boley went the rest of the game in the circle. The two allowed seven runs, four earned, off seven hits and one walk.
East Buchanan’s Erin McPike was their star with the three-run home run and going the distance pitching for the win.
