Free Throws Help Lady Hornets Win

Good free throw shooting in the fourth quarter lifted the Chillicothe Lady Hornets Basketball team over the Savannah Lady Savages 40-32 in the Consolation Game of the Savannah Tournament.
The teams were tied at 13-all after one and 21-all at the half. Chillicothe had a one point lead after three quarters. The Lady Hornets made eight out of ten free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Coach Darren Smith was also proud of his team’s defensive effort in the game.

Chillicothe was led by Essie Hicks with 16 and Jessica Reeter with 14 points. Joli Bonderer had four, Lucy Reeter, Brooke Horton and Selby Miller had two points each and Ellie Barnett and Kinlei Boley saw playing time.
Maryville girls beat Benton 54 to 42 for the tournament title.
Unofficially Chillicothe made 10 out of 12 free throws in the game. The Lady Hornets are now 3-1 and host Trenton as part of a double header next Friday.
