The High School basketball season can be divided into three parts. Part one is December when teams are in one early season tournament, and schedule non-conference teams. It’s a month for coaches to measure strengths and weaknesses on their team.
February is usually Conference month when teams try to win their conference championship.
In between is January, or Tournament month. Teams usually are in two tournaments in January to continue their team’s progress.
Tournament month begins tonight and in the KCHI area it starts with several teams in the Salisbury tournament with girls first round games tonight. Salisbury plays Paris at 5:30 and Meadville plays Glasgow at 7:30, both in the “Dome” Gym. The South Shelby girls play Cairo at 5:30 and Norborne against Carrollton at 7:30, both in the south gym.
The week of January 11th there will be tournaments in Lawson, Osborn, Lathrop and Milan. The week of January 25th include tournaments in Cameron, Hamilton, Keytesville, North Platte, Meadville and Slater.
