Gallatin’s Bird Is The Word for CHS

The Chillicothe Hornets had a big run on points in the first quarter, but could not maintain the lead and lost to Gallatin 58 to 48 in the Lawson Tournament.
Gallatin scored the first seven points, but Chillicothe fought back with a 21-0 run to lead 21-7 after the first quarter.
Gallatin fought back and trailed by one at halftime. Chillicothe struggled in the second half, trailing 43 to 39 after three and losing by ten at the end of the game.
Chillicothe had trouble slowing down Isaac Bird who finished with 27 points, and Payton Feiden who had 16 points. The two had 43 of their team’s 58 points.
Chillicothe was led by Griff Bonderer with 16 points including a half-court trey at the end of the first half. Mason Baxter had 11 points, Hayden Simmer with 9, Wyatt Brandsgaard with 5, Eli Cross with 3, and two each for James Mathew and Cayden Potter.
Chillicothe plays at 12:00pm Saturday for third place against West Platte, which lost to top seed Richmond 70 to 54.
