Last Second Heroics Lifts Hornets

The Chillicothe Hornets Boys Basketball team needed some late game heroics to pick up a District win at Savannah 32 to 31.
It was a close game the entire night with neither team leading by more than seven points. With 1:27 left in the game, Savannah took a one point lead. Then with 39 seconds left, Savannah hit one out of two free throws for a two-point lead.
After a time out, Chillicothe Sophomore Griff Bonderer hit a left wing trey to give the Hornets a one point lead.
After two Savannah time outs, the Savages put up a shot from the left low post with two seconds left. The well defended shot went off the backboard and onto the right low post, where Chillicothe rebounded the ball and secured the win.
Chillicothe was led by Hayden Simmer with 14 points, Bonderer with seven, Cayden Potter with five, Mason Baxter with four, James Mathew with two and playing time for Eli Cross and Wyatt Brandsgaard.
Chillicothe improves to 15-9 on the season. They play Wednesday at Richmond at 6:00pm. The Spartans are 20-3 on the season.
