Hornets Baseball Drop Two

It was a tough day for the Chillicothe Baseball team in their own tournament. Chillicothe lost two games in pool play and will play for fifth place on Saturday.
Chillicothe opened play against Macon in Pool Play. The Hornets gave up five runs in the top of the seventh to let the game go to extra innings, then gave up two more in the top of the ninth to lose to Macon 8 to 6.
Wyatt Brandsgaard had a double and a single. Brock Miller had three singles, Mason Baxter with two and Griff Bonderer, Brock Ward and Landon Winder each with one single.
In the Hornets second game Chillicothe gave up four runs in the first and second innings, and five in the fourth in route to a 16-8 loss to Benton in five innings. The Hornets had seven errors in the game, while Benton scored 16 runs off just six hits.
Tucker Wagers had a double, Mason Baxter had two singles and Griff Bonderer had one single.
Chillicothe will play Saturday for consolation at Danner Park at 10:00am Saturday.
Today’s games are Lafayette against Cameron at 4pm at Danner and Kirksville against Maryville at 4pm at Shaffer Park. Winners play at 6p at Shaffer Park and losers at 6:00pm at Danner Park.
