The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Softball team had few problems in winning their own tournament on Saturday. Chillicothe went 2-0 in pool play, then won two more games in bracket play.
Chillicothe beat Princeton 14-8 and Oak Grove 8-3 in pool play. The Lady Hornets then hit their stride in the final two games with a 22-6 thumping of Savannah, in a rematch from a 3-0 win a couple weeks go. The Lady Hornets beat a quality Macon team 15-1 for the championship.
Coach Lee Rucker was happy with the 59 total runs scored in the four games.
Rucker said seeing two different styles of pitching in the tournament will help his team.
In the four games combined, the Lady Hornets had 72 hits including 14 doubles and four home runs.
In the latest Class 3 top-ten poll the Lady Hornets jumped up to #4 with their 17-3 record.
