Hornets Baseball Celebrates 2022 Season With Banquet Dinner

On Sunday night, the Chillicothe Hornets baseball team put a bow on the 2022 season with their team banquet dinner.

During the ceremony, Manager Josh Lisle announced team award winners that included Hagan Atchinson as Defensive Player of the Year, Gage Leamer as the team’s Offensive Player of the Year, Max Wagers was named the team’s Cy Young winner, Logan Clark and Brodie Cairns were co-winners of the “Charlie Hustle” Award, and the team MVP is Brock Ward.

Additionally, Lisle announced Atchinson as a 2nd team All-MEC member, and Ward, Wagers and Gage Leamer as All-MEC Honorable Mentions.  All-District members included Ward and Gage Leamer.

The team also won some impressive classroom awards. Wyatt Brandsgaard and Ward were selected as Academic All-State.  Brock Ward also became, what is believed to be, the program’s first National Academic All-American.

The Hornets finished 6th in the MEC this year with a 6-16 record. They were eliminated in the first round of districts by Maryville.

Manager Josh Lisle said that this season was all about his team learning through adversity.

Looking ahead to next season, Lisle says that he’ll be doing everything in his power to ensure his players are prepared for success in 2023.

The Hornets skipper is optimistic for next Spring.
