Body Cameras And Police Vehicles

The purchase of body cams and police vehicles was approved by the Chillicothe City Council.  Police Chief Jon Maples presented the bids for the four additional body cameras that would become a part of their current system.

For the SRO program at a cost of $8,998

Maples also presented the bids for two police vehicles.  Three bids were received, two were considered at the meeting.  One came from a dealership in Norman, OK for 2026 Ford Explorers available now for $89,422.  The other bid from MAG for 2027 Dodge Durangos was for $82,672, but they would not be ready for nearly three months.

He explained his preference.

The Durangos because of the budget.

Those vehicles will be delivered to Chillicothe in mid to late August.  The chief says they will still need to have the vehicles outfitted with lights, cages, radios, etc.
