Chillicothe Police – School Resource Officer (SRO) Program

The Chillicothe Police Department has officially taken over the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program for the Chillicothe R-II Schools.  Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples there are several steps that still need to be taken before the new school year begins.

Equipment for the officers and officially hiring the officers.

Ahead of the hiring, the department developed policies and job descriptions for the positions.  Maples says they currently have three SRO’s.

They have three officers for the three K-12 buildings.

The chief says there will be specialized Training for the SRO’s.

SRO Conference from the state, the Basic SRO training through
the Police Chief’s Association, and then the Advanced.

He says they plan to expand that training next year, possibly with attending the national SRO Conference.
