Heavy Rains Tonight Could Bring Major Flooding

Heavy rains and possible severe weather this evening could mean major flooding on the Grand River.

The National Weather Service Meteorologist Brad Temeyer says the forecast for the overnight hours includes 1-3 inches of rain beginning between 7-10 pm and continuing for several hours.  He says the system is building in Kansas and heading east.

A squall line moving across the area with heavy rain and strong winds and severe weather.

The heavy rainfall is likely to push the Grand River level to major flooding,

Already at Moderate flooding and expected to rise to major flooding of 35 feet.

This could result in flood waters near or over the roads, including portions of US 36 and US 65.
