Livingston County Seniors Have Until June 30th To Apply For Senior Tax Releif

Livingston County seniors have until the end of June to apply for the senior property tax relief approved in the April election. The tax relief is defined by Senate Bill 190 and amended by Senate Bill 756. Livingston County Collector Treasurer Deanna Haven says that those who are eligible can begin applying this year.

This is for real estate bills only, for qualifying seniors.

Havens explains the eligibility for the program.

Livingston Co resident, 62 and older, who is the property owner.

To receive the tax relief under this program, you will need to apply each year.  Havens says her office has set up times and a location to handle the application process.

Mon – 4-7pm,    Tues – Fri: 10 am-1 pm

Documents required for this application include:

  • Proof of Livingston County primary residency with a legal form of ID.
  • Proof of Age
  • Proof of ownership.  That is the Deed book and page number, and a copy of the Warranty Deed

If the property is owned by a trust, you must show proof you are a trustee.

Havens recommends couples apply together so everything is complete, should something happen to either party.
