Simpson Park – Electrical, Lighting, Water

A utility project in Simpson Park is taking place this summer.  CMU General Manager Matt Hopper explains the electrical work that will take place.

Move the electric underground and update the east side electrical.

Hopper says the majority of the electrical in Simpson Park has been in place for more than 40 years and has reached its lifespan.  Hopper argued it makes sense to replace it during the project.

Don’t want failures during an event, so it makes sense to replace it.

Trail lighting will be improved, including on the new section of the trails.  Hopper specified where those light fixtures came from.

The excess lights that came from Hedrick Medical Center.

In addition, CMU will be evaluating the current water lines in the park and making upgrades where they are needed.
