National Child Passenger Safety Week – Sept 23-29

Missouri law requires all children under the age of eight are to be in a child safety or booster seat until they are 80 pounds or 4 feet 9 inches tall.

Is your young passenger’s car seat installed correctly?  Are you sure they are riding in the right seat for their height and weight?

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, three out of four child safety seats are improperly installed.

September 23rd to the 29th is National Child Passenger Safety Week.  And a couple of local agencies are performing checks to ensure you are using the child safety seats and boosters properly.

Chillicothe Fire Fighter Nathan Zabka says Child Safety is very important.

Zabka says the Chillicothe Fire Department will host a Child Safety Seat Check, Saturday, September 29th, from 9:00 am to Noon at the Chillicothe Fire Department.  This is sponsored by the Fire Department and the Livingston County Health Center.

In addition, The Grundy County Health Department will host a similar event Thursday, September 27th from 12:30 to 3:30 pm at their office.

Both events are free of charge
