Car Fire West Of Chillicothe Thursday Afternoon

The Chillicothe Rural Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire about 1:00 pm Thursday.  The fire was on LIV 235, near LIV 256, west of Chillicothe on West 3rd Street.  According to the report, the vehicle was fully engulfed in fire when the fire crew arrived.  They had knocked down the fire, but there were still flames were coming from under the vehicle.  They had to cut a hole inside the vehicle floor to get at the fire underneath and it took about 20 minutes to put out the fire.

The driver was not injured, but a passenger had some minor burns and had breathed in smoke while trying to get a wallet from the vehicle.  He refused treatment at the scene and said he would seek his own treatment.

The fire crew was on the scene for about an hour.
